Dr. Elias Barghash
Licensed Psychologist
Elias Barghash, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with a passion for storytelling and creativity. On the road to healing, he believes that building the narrative of your life can enrich your understanding of who you are. He earned his master's degree in psychology at New York University and his doctorate in clinical psychology at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Prior to completing his doctoral internship at Baylor University, he received specialized training in individual and group psychotherapy while working at Howard University. Dr. Barghash completed his postdoctoral fellowship in grief-focused psychotherapy and end-of-life care within the Baylor Scott & White Health system. He has worked in a range of clinical settings, including community mental health, university counseling centers, primary care, as well as hospital and hospice settings.
Dr. Barghash provides psychodynamically informed therapy and assessments to individuals, families, and groups. He facilitates a therapeutic environment that is open, warm, and collaborative, incorporating diversity, inclusivity, and intersectionality as a framework. As a member of the Arab community, Dr. Barghash holds a special interest in working with individuals of Middle Eastern / North African (MENA) descent. His other areas of clinical focus include grief, self-esteem, identity exploration, the impact of relationship patterns, gender dynamics, culture, and sexuality. Dr. Barghash is the Training Director of the Alliance Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship, and is a member of both APA and the Bexar County Psychological Association.
