Christine Joy, M.D.
Board-certified Adult and Geriatric Psychiatrist
Dr. Joy is a board-certified adult and geriatric psychiatrist. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology and cognitive sciences from Rice University and then completed her medical school, psychiatry residency, and geriatric psychiatry fellowship at UT Health San Antonio. During her training and early career, Dr. Joy has worked in many settings, caring for a variety of patients and their families. She has conducted clinical research for Alzheimer’s Disease and treated elders with cognitive impairment, depression, and behavioral disturbances of dementia with UT Medicine and the Glen Biggs Institute for Dementia and Neurodegenerative Diseases. She has also been honored to serve as a staff psychiatrist for the South Texas Veterans’ Health Care System to provide holistic, outpatient care to veterans with post-traumatic stress, mood, thought, substance use, and complex pain disorders. Dr. Joy’s treatment approach is patient-centered, culturally sensitive, and psychodynamically informed. She highly values collaboration with her patients’ family members in addition to other medical and mental health professionals. Dr. Joy is delighted to join Alliance Psychology in August 2023 as their Medical Director.
